ABBA Voyage

ABBA Voyage is a revolutionary new concert that will see ABBA: Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, and Anni-Frid, performing digitally with a live 10-piece band in a purpose-built 3,000 capacity arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London from 27th May 2022.

ILM’s work on ABBA Voyage in creating the digital versions of ABBA has been overseen by Creative Director Ben Morris.

I worked at ILM from the start on this project doing the lookdev for the ABBA characters. Because there was not a lot of high quality reference from back in those days it was quite a challenging project. We had people with similar skin tones scanned and completely lookdevved those so we had a good base as reference.

In the end my main responsibilities were the lookdev of the faces of Frida and Benny.

I did leave ILM before this project was finished so my worked was picked up by another artist for the final result. But for 9 months I've worked on these characters trying out different techniques and doing a lot of groundwork.

I learned a lot about skin/eyes/hair shader and working within the ILM pipeline. This project really boosted my knowledge in lookdev because of the amazing artist I've worked with.
